In a bold political move, ten opposition parties in Cross River State have formed a united front to oust Governor Bassey Otu in the 2027 elections.
The coalition was officially sealed during a high-stakes meeting yesterday in Calabar.
Frustrated by what they described as poor governance under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the coalition leaders vowed to restore accountability, transparency, and true democratic values to the state.
In a joint statement signed by Rev. Omaleko Efut Omaleko, Director of Communication and Strategy and State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the group condemned the APC’s alleged attempts to stifle democracy and warned against any effort to transform Cross River into a one-party state.
Chairmen of APGA, Allied People’s Movement (APM), Boot Party (BP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Young Progressives Party (YPP) were present at the meeting.
The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) and New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) also sent key representatives, signaling a broad-based opposition push.
The coalition says its mission is clear: reclaim Cross River for the people.
